Billy Bug by Hilda Rose

billy bug.png

This games is called Billy Bug. It is based on co-ordinates. You have to press the arrows to get onto the correct space. I got a bit confused but then I got familiar with the concept of the game. I set a high score of 1 minute and 24 seconds. I found it easy because I had the basic knowledge of co-ordinates. I found this game fun and I hope to work with it again in the near future.

Scared and traumatized by Siua

In writing we have being writing about WW1. We have being looking at the picture then we brain stormed . After that we chose 3 of our powerful words. Then made that into 3 little paragraphs. This is the photo that we used.

This is one of the sentences I wrote with my powerful word.

The young men only had a little bit of training. When they got into battle they were
scared and traumatized when they saw their friends dying.

Odd and Even by Anau

That’s Odd

Blogger.jpg

We have been learning about Even and Odd numbers.
Every morning Group 2 use maths book and a math sheet to learn different strategies for solving sums. We’ve been learning about odd numbers and even numbers, it was really easier to solve because its like addition but you have to explain what is odd or even. This maths sum is really easy to answer.
For example:
3+17=20 which is Even because I can half. 10 + 10 =20
11+2=13 which is odd because it doesn't make a half.

ANZAC by Anau

A week ago Mrs Barry told us in our Writing we have to brainstorm and write what we think about the picture of the WW2. We used some adjectives, nouns and verbs to describe what was happening in the image. Then we had to make a 3 sentence story and use some key words in the sentence and vision yourself in the image and how you might have felt.

Hilda Rose - a few words about ANZAC

25worldwar11006.jpg

Our writing for this week was about describing the emotions and feelings of a picture.
Its just like putting your feet into their shoes. Here is a few words I thought of to describe the picture above.
  • Terrified
  • Homesick
  • Alarmed
  • Prepared
  • Impatient
I was really interested in this weeks writing because it gave myself and my class a chance to stop and think about the engaging words we could think of.

Before Sports Camp by Hilda Rose

Sports camp last year was one of the best experiences I have ever had. But this year might be completely different. I expect to meet a lot of new people this year who are hopefully kind. I also expect my school to go on the water slide this year because we didn't go on it last year (please). But one thing I'm really excited about is leaving my family when I go to Sports Camp. There are 31 sports codes which are:
  • Basketball Rugby
  • Volleyball Touch
  • Indoor soccer Triathlon
  • Indoor hockey Cross country
  • Darts Athletics
  • Bowls Kayaking
  • Tennis Cage soccer
  • Croquet Chess
  • Golf Draughts
  • Softball Scramball
  • Swimming Wallball
  • Cheer Night Table tennis
  • Outdoor hockey Outdoor soccer
  • Petanque Swimming
  • Archery Shooting...

Look out for my next blog when I will let you know how we did :-)

Candy Floss Clouds by Melissa

Tropical Island

As I burn my feet walking along the hot sand, under the bright sun I could see the waves clashing against a big rock. I could see tall coconut trees swishing through the wind as it drops coconuts onto the sand. As I walk over to get a coconut to hydrate me, I could hear birds chirping in the trees trying to feed their babies some fish. I crack the coconut open and drink the sweet milk inside it under an umbrella I found earlier.

I start staring at the clear water after it finishes a game of tackles with the rocks. The water was calmly moving towards me and I got a small glimpse of the sparkles in the water. I slowly began to fall asleep as the sun made me feel tired. I layed down and began to look at the blue sky thinking that the clouds were candy floss. Then I fell asleep.

Two hours later I woke up just when the sun was going down, stars began to shine and the moon began to show. Just before the time hit 8:00 pm, from a mile away into the ocean I could see a pack of dolphins doing tricks and flips.

After watching amazing entertainment I grabbed a piece of string tied to a hook, and started to fish. I hung the fishing line on a rock and went back to my small hut and created a small fire. While waiting for my fishing line to get a bite I went to look for a stick for my fish to be stabbed through. When I quickly came back I was just in time to get my fishing line and saw a fish bite it. I quickly pulled my string up and cooked the fish that I caught.

The next morning the sun rose and I heated up the leftover fish for breakfast. Then I decided to go for a long bush walk around the Island. I packed a bottle of cold water and a coconut for when I was hungry. Walking through the bushes of this island I left trace marks on the sand for me so I could find my way back to my hut. I saw amazing creatures and found a hammock. As I look down at my watch it was time for me to find my way back to my hut. On my way back the breeze flowing towards me made me feel a bit chilly. So I decided to jog all the way back to my hut.

As I arrived to my hut I saw some birds trying to pick the leftover fish near the fire. I just left the birds and hung my hammock up between two palm trees. I hopped onto the hammock and tried relaxing. A little while later I spotted a small rescue boat. I signaled them and they came towards me asking if I was alright when they were close. I told them I was fine. I then knew straight away I had to leave this tropical island of mine and I had to go home. I slowly packed my stuff onto the boat wondering if I would ever get a chance to come back here. But I had to leave to get back home to my family.

Sitting on the boat leaving this Island I was sad. I had a great time and didn't want to leave so soon. But maybe I guess it was just an amazing experience.

Chemical Reactions by Melissa

This term we have a new topic for writing. We are learning about Chemical reactions. Even though we have just started I already know a lot about chemical reactions. I think this topic is really exciting. This week I learnt that there are chemicals in everything. Putting two things or more together can create a chemical reaction. Such as putting mentos into a diet coke bottle (with coke inside it) can cause the liquid inside the coke to burst out of the bottle and create a little explosion. If you're interested to see what I am talking about, here is a link to the YouTube video of the soda and mentos explosion.

Pre 2015 Sports Camp by Melissa

Sports Camp 2015

Last year at Sports Camp was fun. There was a lot of encouragement and support. I think that this year I will be in most of the sports.
I'm expecting this year to be a lot of fun, but not as much fun as it was last year because most of my friends won't be coming this year.
I'm expecting us to come 1st and to win more trophies than last year because we’re versing different schools then last year.
I’m hoping that we will be able to go on the water slide.
I'm expecting that we will be in all the sports for the finals, there will be more photos taken , and that there won't be any stealing.
Sports camp to me is like a holiday and anyone that isn't coming they're missing out on a lot of fun.

Core values:
Sportsmanship
Teamwork
Respect
Encouragement
Discipline

Using the BBC to help my maths by Kane

This game helps me with my time tables and addition. You have to click on the answers and the man will give you the fruit. The time tables is too easy and addition is because it is just adding up stuff.

Filling in the Gaps by Siua

This week for math my group was working on a fraction worksheet. We were working on equivalent fractions. It is easy because it is just like simplifying fractions. Then we put the fractions in it's simplest form. The hardest thing was filling in the gaps with = or ?.

Rugby World Cup by Jema

Writing
This week in my writing I have been learning about the Rugby World Cup 2015 and which countries or how many countries are competing in the rugby world cup. What I have learnt so far was how many countries are in each pool like this:
These are all the countries I'm doing 3 countries they are (these are only from pool A and pool B) England, Uruguay, and South Africa, I've done more research on Uruguay then England and South Africa this is some of my research on Uruguay's traditional and native things:

What is their national food?Chivito - a traditional Uruguayan sandwich with sliced steak, ham, cheese, eggs and mayonnaise. Some chivitos also have bacon added to it.

Empanada - a type of pie/turnover which is commonly filled with ground beef (mince) or cheese.

Alfajores - two shortbread cookies are filled with dulce de leche (see below) and covered with chocolate.

Chajá - a sponge cake covered in whipped cream with crushed meringue on top. sometimes slices of peach are added. It comes from Paysandú.
This is for how far South Africa:

How far is South Africa from England?

188 h (8,679.4 mi).

So this is the end of my blog for the Rugby World Cup but I'll be back writing other great things hope you'll read all my other blogs when I write them see you later!
